Wolff rating: EXCELLENT
Plot summary: Ash, the unluckiest S-mart clerk in the universe, has fallen backwards through time to 13th century England to find the Necronomicon.
Biased, pithy comments: This is unlike any other ``EXCELLENT'' rating that I've given out. Remember, it's a horror movie that is very bad, but tries very hard to be good. Campbell is, well, desperately overacting, but he's obviously having fun, and he is visually wonderful. Everyone else in the movie is forgettable, but the action scenes are very high-octane with tongue fully in cheek. Raimi at his best.
Other Notes: Think ``Evil Dead 2'' with a budget. Campbell is co-producer.
