Wolff rating: FAIR
Plot summary: Mormon secret service guard of Brigham Young uncovers a deep plot to kill the Patriarch in the old West.
Biased, pithy comments: This movie, though shot nicely, had a weak script and a poor grasp of pacing. The romances are kind of pointless, but the real weakness of the film in Berenger. He is wooden in his emotions, looks unconvincing behind his scraggly beard, and completely fails to move us to understanding the turmoil of his character. Fortunately, exposition from the female characters around him smacks us over the head with his conflict, since they are somehow able to perceive this when the audience can't. Disappointing and poorly paced, all around, though it had many of the elements of a good yarn.
Other Notes: Made for TNT movie.
