Wolff rating: MOSTLY HARMLESS
Plot summary: Brother of very religious girl follows an interesting tip about a brothel and ends up finding a whole bunch of undead.
Biased, pithy comments: Tales From the Crypt on HBO is fun---it's classic comic-book penny-dreadful horror, ghost stories like you tell in the bunkhouse at camp when you're eleven, only told with fairly decent actors, good production values, and plenty of silly gore. However, at 87 minutes, it seemed like three hours. Director Adler is clearly more at home with TV than movie, and even with lots of naked women and fog machines can't seem to fill the time adequately. Even the vaunted super-soakers-filled-with-holy-water gag, pioneered by ``The Lost Boys'' and done right in ``From Dusk 'Till Dawn'', ends too quickly. No, the quintessential cheesy vampire flick continues to be either ``Dusk 'Till Dawn,'' ``Buffy,'' or ``The Lost Boys.'' Skip this, even if you're a vaguely horny 14-year-old looking for some nudity mixed with your violence or a die-hard Dennis Miller fan (he isn't even very funny, although aimiable).
Other Notes: Also known as ``Tales From the Crypt Presents'' yadda yadda.
