Wolff rating: GOOD
Plot summary: William Wallace leads the Scots against the British in the 1200s.
Biased, pithy comments: Big, sweeping historical drama. After I say this is a good movie and people should see it, I have to complain that I didn't really buy Gibson as Wallace, but given the script, I think I would have had a hard time buying *anyone* as Wallace. Good, but not fantastic, battle scenes, beautiful princesses, fair lasses, lots of unflinchingly bloody sword/axe/ball-n-chain/claymore/lance/spear fights, and just some downright nasty nobility.
Other Notes: Won Best Picture, filmed largely in Ireland, which looks a lot like Scotland.
How many times I have seen it: x1
Starring: Mel Gibson
