Wolff rating: MOSTLY HARMLESS
Plot summary: Young grad school drop-out and company discover cheap, clean power generation technique, but then go on the run from mysterious bad guys.
Biased, pithy comments: Duh. That's all that can be said for the writing in this film. Very flat. Very dull. I'd complain about Reeves' wooden acting, but it isn't worth it, since the real problem was the flaky, badly-explained plot and dialog with all the fervor of an overcooked strand of linguini. The special effects are not bad (Digital Domain), but I didn't care from the outset of the film, and all the tense near-escapes in the world won't matter if that happens. Also, they mix and match famous museums at random---first in the Field Museum in Chicago, then turn the interior corner and they're in the Museum of Science and Industry, and then some dialog tells us that we're supposed to be in the ``science museum'' in Washington, D.C. Do they mean the Smithsonian? It sure wasn't, at least to this museum fan.
Other Notes: Watch the credits to the end. Filmed in Chicago (including the scenes in Washington), Madison, and Evanston.
How many times I have seen it: x1
