Chinese Connection, The(1972)

Wolff rating: GOOD

Plot summary: Distraught martial artist takes his revenge on a rival Japanese school.

Biased, pithy comments: The nationalism (almost to the point of racism, or perhaps past that point) of the film nearly outweighs the Dragon's stellar performance as the troubled young student of ``Teacher.'' (The parallels between Teacher and Mao are strong.) Fantastic fighting scenes; Lee is beautiful to watch. See it, but not for its plot or acting (outside of Lee's and Lo's).

Other Notes: In Chinese with either dubbing or subtitles; most video copies are badly converted from widescreen format---you sort of have to infer what's happening on either the left or right.

How many times I have seen it: x2

Starring: Bruce Lee, Robert Baker, Wei Lo.
Directed by: Wei Lo
