Class of Nukem High(1986)

Wolff rating: MOSTLY HARMLESS

Plot summary: Radioactive leak makes high school students act strange.

Biased, pithy comments: I really liked ``Toxic Avenger.'' It was weird, graphic, naughty, and funny. Despite being nearly the same movie top to bottom, this is not nearly as much fun. Although it has the same vibe as the old 80s high school movies (indeed, this *is* an 80s high school movie), it is so incoherent that it bores rather than entertains. Where ``Toxie'' was a winking tribute to superhero comics, this is just a lot of running around. It doesn't quite deliver on Troma Team values---no real explosions, little nudity, and kinda iffy writing. It does have a lot of mugging to the camera by a collection of modern primitives (before they were hip) which created the only real laugh of the show---``They used to be the honor society!'' No, not the place to be with Troma Team. Save your pennies for the same movie, only better, called ``Toxic Avenger''.

How many times I have seen it: x1

Starring: Janell Brady, Gil Brenton, Robert Prichard, and a host of Troma regulars.
Directed by: Lloyd Kaufman and Richard Haines
