Go(1999)

Wolff rating: GOOD

Plot summary: Young Gen-X slackers and lowlifes bounce off one another during one long, complicated night at a rave in L.A., in Las Vegas, and elsewhere.

Biased, pithy comments: Without having seen ``Pulp Fiction,'' this would probably be one of those movies that would be groundbreaking for you. As it is, it follows the PF mold by having interlocking separate storylines and characters and playing with time in a convoluted narrative involving money, drugs, and guns. However, the characters (who are morally bankrupt even as they are likeable) have a sort of wide-eyed zeal about them as they crash through situations in which they have very little control. It's a clever story with a strong plot and can be laugh-out-loud funny. It's also got a hoppin' soundtrack and fun (if sometimes a little bouncy) cinematography. It's not deep, but I liked it. It's a movie on speed at a rave---bright, colorful, loud, fast, noisy, fun, and basically empty.

How many times I have seen it: x1

Starring: Sarah Polley, Katie Holmes, Desmond Askew, Scott Wolf.
Directed by: Doug Liman
