Wolff rating: NOT BAD
Plot summary: Avaricious cousins compete for the favor of their elderly millionaire uncle.
Biased, pithy comments: This might have been ``Dirty Rotten Scoundrels'' for all its doublecrosses and schemes, but it wasn't. It wasn't quite funny enough to be DRS, yet not quite human enough to be truly dramatic. And the ending is so Hollywood that you can't quite buy it as real, leaving you feeling like you drank a chocolate shake that wasn't really very tasty. Fox isn't as endearing as he usually is (though Travis shines), but Douglas is adept as the crochety uncle. Future cast of NBC sitcoms are all right, but get very little screen time. I'd skip it and watch something more classic.
How many times I have seen it: x1
Starring: Michael J. Fox, Kirk Douglas, Nancy Travis.
