Wolff rating: GOOD
Plot summary: Two convicts end up pretending to be pageant-consultants in a little Texas town.
Biased, pithy comments: If it weren't for the actors, this would have been a forgettable ``pretending-to-be-gay'' film that would soon show its dated attitudes as it yellowed on the rental shelf. However, with Macy, Zahn, Douglas, and occasionally Northam and Walker belting out great performances, they turn a tepid script and limp farce into something you can really laugh at. It never turns a direction you think it won't, and you won't need to see it twice, but it's still a pleasant, disposable comedy made by people who believed in it.
Other Notes: Walker is ``The Profiler'', or at least was until she bailed. Zahn will be trapped forever in stoner parts, but maybe he's like that in real life.
