Plot summary: Thriller writer is without ideas, but follows his muse to a beautiful Romanian woman accused of murder.
Biased, pithy comments: Sometimes you see a movie with a formulaic plot and mid-talent actors and you think, ``Well, you could have made a much worse movie.'' I felt that about this movie, but I was also thinking ``Well, you could have made a much better movie with the same pieces.'' Selleck is actually a talented comic actor---movie-star good looks and an innate willingness to be goofy (see ``Magnum P.I.,'' his magnum opus) and William Daniels could play a nervous short guy in his sleep. Porizkova is absolutely gorgeous but fairly vapid; she has moments of acting and many moments of standing around, grinning radiantly. Alas, the movie goes to pieces early, only rarely redeeming itself with the voice-overs of the terrible novel Selleck is writing in his head as events unfold. Skip due to the artless and unsubtle direction and uneven pacing, but give props to a moderately surprising ending (hey, you didn't expect it to end up *there*, did you?) and some pleasant (if not superstar) talent.
Other Notes: Porizkova is normally a model, and her angular slimness emphasizes how incredibly skinny these models can get. Eat, woman! Eat!
