Wolff rating: EXCELLENT
Plot summary: Some babies are missing and the cops are helpess. Time to call in some sexy supervixen superheroines!
Biased, pithy comments: Hong Kong action mish mash held together by excellent pacing and editing, along with some great performances by the lead babes-with-guns-and-kung-fu. Like many Hong Kong action films, plot coherence is set aside for action in most cases, leaving some audience members confused (especially in temporal order, along with plot questions like why the toxic cloak doesn't toxify Invisible Woman). I'm missing the point of the film, though--the point of the film is to have as many guy-wire assisted fights as humanly possible. Each set-piece is a work of kinetic, thrilling art, though it seemed as if there were exactly two takes for every scene---take the best one and just keep filming, even if it doesn't make sense or you can see the wires holding up the heroines (or their spinning blades of death). Also, a blatant borrow of ``Terminator'' near the end, but you know what? I didn't care! I had a great time and it kept my heart rate sky high. And I might well have a crush on Maggie Cheung. Definite must for ``Army of Darkness'' fans.
Other Notes: Cantonese with subtitles (if you're lucky). Followed by a sequel.
