Horse Soldiers, The(1959)

Wolff rating: NOT BAD

Plot summary: Civil war soldiers march to Newton Station led by a gruff warrior and a pacifist doctor.

Biased, pithy comments: Aside from the Duke's almost invisible acting, I liked this Ford offering. Sometimes slow, sometimes see-through, but filled with relatively realistic portrayals of the War Between The States and the brutal, horrible medicine practiced by men with the best intentions. Yeah, except for the Duke, this is a quite watchable show filled with sound and fury and signifying pretty much nothing.

How many times I have seen it: x1

Starring: John Wayne, William Holden, Constance Towers, Althea Gibson
Directed by: John Ford
