In the Heat of Passion(1992)

Wolff rating: FAIR

Plot summary: Harmless actor-wannabe is enraptured by beautiful woman who needs her car and her cable repaired. Oh, and there's a rapist plot, too.

Biased, pithy comments: It's a sort of a cheap late-80s I-wish-we-could-do-this-as-a-real-film-noir scatter-scripted psycho-thriller. You've seen it before and with far better production values. That said, the MacGuffin is OK, though doesn't hold up to serious scrutiny. Maltin calls this movie "sexually frank." Well, for low-budget Shannon Tweed-level softcore porn, it's surprisingly low on the sexual content. However, if you grew up with a thing for Sally Kirkland, queen of low-budget Corman films, you might find it sexually frank. Me, I found her about 30 years too old for me. Your mileage may vary.

Other Notes: Filled with a few people that were and might not be again, including Corri (the original scumbag boyfriend from ``Nightmare on Elm Street'') and (blink and you'll miss her) Lisa Kudrow. Director goes on to direct ``Idle Hands'' and lots of TV shows.

How many times I have seen it: x1

Starring: Sally Kirkland, Nick Corri, Jack Carter, Carlos Carrasco.
Directed by: Rodman Flender
