Wolff rating: NOT BAD
Plot summary: In the distant future dystopia, Stallone and other uniformed policeman (judge, jury, and executioner all in one) try to maintain order.
Biased, pithy comments: The first half of this movie is great---rich special effects, great costumes, and suitably macho set of problems for our stony-faced hero to deal with, along with an attractive female sidekick-Judge (Lane). Alas, as the movie continues, it breaks down into a predictable plot ending in a pretty pointless shoot-out reminiscent of ``Demolition Man''. Sigh. I was hoping for more, but I guess you can't ask that much of Stallone. (If only they had someone with more presence than he!) It's hard to find new material in the grim-robotic-cop-in-city-in-flames ever since they made three ``Robocops'' and had a whole series. Oh, and you Twin-Peaks-Joan-Chen fans can bag this movie, too, since she appears for about 5 minutes total (though with an amusing catfight between her and Lane; why can't women punch out men and men punch out women in Hollywood?).
Other Notes: Apparently Stallone was a monster to work with on the set, driving director Cannon crazy.
