Wolff rating: NOT BAD
Plot summary: Two sailors take another to prison on chaser detail.
Biased, pithy comments: A moody, complex piece with young versions of most of the actors we've come to know so well. Though it is a deep movie, it is dated and frankly the filmmaking (especially the sound) leave much to be desired. Not quite 90s fare, but interesting from a historical perspective.
Other Notes: My viewing was marred by my misunderstanding of the release date; I kept wondering why the movie was set in the early 70s, and was really impressed with Nicholson's hairpiece.
