Wolff rating: NOT BAD
Plot summary: Horrifying woman leads upstate New Yorker to bad times and bad business.
Biased, pithy comments: Film noir of film noir, this is a grim tale that exemplifies how not to deal with both your life goals and your interpersonal relationships. Certainly entertaining, but doesn't reach out and grab you as new and creative.
Other Notes: I've taken heat for this review, but essentially it's this---Fiorentino's character is a pawn in the writer's hands; she's psychic, clairvoyant, and lucky to a ludicrous extent without giving more than a passing nod to reality. If you want unmitigated evil in your characters, I recommend ``In the Company of Men.''
How many times I have seen it: x1
Starring: Linda Fiorentino, Bill Pullman
