Wolff rating: NOT BAD
Plot summary: Dorky lawyer has to, for one day, tell the truth.
Biased, pithy comments: I like Jim Carrey, or at least I did when he was on ``In Living Color.'' He can be very, very funny, and moments of this movie are exactly that---sidesplitting. Sadly, like many Eddie Murphy movies in the past, the really funny moments of this high-energy actor acting at his highest energy aren't connected by anything remotely resembling a watchable plot. This one has something to do with his kid for whom he's a rotten father. As such, just about any scene that concerns the kid (even in abstentia, when they're just talking about him) is plodding---get back to the jerk who can't help but admit his failures! If you're aware that the emotional content of the film is dreck there are some really great moments of comedy in here, some of them even found in the outtakes as the credits roll. (Even if you think the movie is stupid, flip it back on for the end for the outtakes.) Your milage may vary.
