Marvin's Room(1996)

Wolff rating: GOOD

Plot summary: Estranged sisters are reunited when one is diagnosed with cancer.

Biased, pithy comments: Solidly acted, well-written former play that made its way onto the big screen. Both Streep and Keaton are seasoned pros at the top of their form, although at times their characters can seem strained (due to the opposite roles they have to play). Moments of comedy lighten something that would otherwise be ponderously heavy, and also show that these are real people with real problems, dealing with them like human beings.

How many times I have seen it: x1

Starring: Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, Diane Keaton, Robert De Niro, Hume Cronyn.
Directed by: Jerry Zaks
