Wolff rating: GOOD
Plot summary: Low budget, out of control ambulance company deals with its competition and sexism.
Biased, pithy comments: This movie is a little out of date and a little madcap, but a really solid cast and solid direction carries it. Cosby is excellent as the jaded Mother, Welch as a beautiful (if not suffused with acting talent) Jugs, and Keitel as a embittered, accused cop. Switches from comedy to tragedy easily, and addresses the overt racism and sexism in the 70s with head-on frankness and derision, though it can be painful at times for more sensitized viewers.
Other Notes: Watch for a young Toni Basil (``Hey Ricky!'') as a shotgun-toting addict.
How many times I have seen it: x1
