Wolff rating: GOOD
Plot summary: An adaptation of Dorothy Parker's depressed life contrasted with her wired group of New York intellectual lunch partners.
Biased, pithy comments: Alternating between black-and-white and color, this film portrays Mrs. Parker as a cynic who cannot seem to find it within herself to enjoy life, no matter what it brings her. Leigh mumbles all her lines, which may be correct portrayal, but makes an already moody film hard to follow. The sparkling wits around her are fascinating, showing the likes of George S. Kaufman sit down and complain about the service. A good watch, but a moody watch.
