Mumford(1999)

Wolff rating: GOOD

Plot summary: A psychologist moves into a West Virginia town and starts making waves.

Biased, pithy comments: I like Kasdan. He's brought me some good movies, from penning ``Raiders'' to directing one of my favorite westerns, ``Silverado.'' I didn't know this was Kasdan when I saw it, but it felt like a Kasdan movie in retrospect---likeable characters with some depth but not a lot, neat Hollywood endings to messy situations, and old-fashioned charm. The movie has a few flaws, mostly connected to the creaky foundation of the plot (coincidence and fate aren't exactly the same thing, guys), but I still had a good time and laughed out loud. A small movie, but a fun one.

How many times I have seen it: x1

Starring: Loren Dean, Hope Davis, Jason Lee, Alfre Woodward, Mary McDonnell, Zooey Deschanel.
Directed by: Lawrence Kasdan
