Biased, pithy comments: With the success of this film, ``Get Shorty,'' and ``Jackie Brown,'' one can forget how badly Elmore Leonard was butchered on screen before now. This film captures the wistful, ironic, and brutal tone of his books about criminals with interesting lives. It's also a sweet romance of star-cross'd lovers, and even finds moments of humor in quiet, human slapstick. A really great film with smooth moves. Soderbergh is a master.
