Paper, The(1993)

Wolff rating: NOT BAD

Plot summary: A day in the life of the New York Sun-Times, with a thousand personal crises and one strange crime.

Biased, pithy comments: To the movie's advantage and detriment, the crime is completely upstaged, leaving a character piece without too many thrills. The whole film is nervous and unsettling, but it paints a picture of life on the low end of journalism with sharp lines and bright colors. Howard also can't decide who to make the movie about, so instead we get looks into just about everyone's life. You can never tell which details about the movie are going to be important later, and it is entirely unpredictable.

Other Notes: Everyone is in this. No, EVERYONE.

How many times I have seen it: x1

Starring: Michael Keaton, Glenn Close, Marisa Tomei, Randy Quaid
Directed by: Ron Howard
