Peggy Sue Got Married(1986)

Wolff rating: GOOD

Plot summary: Woman faints at her high school reunion and finds herself back in high school, still knowing what she knows from the 80s.

Biased, pithy comments: Sort of ``Back to the Future'' played for fewer laughs and a lot more nostalgia, this movie probably goes over the line into sappiness more than once. But, I didn't mind; as I watched Peggy Sue deal with the loves of her life I, too, was brought back to my own high school experience with life and love. (Ironically, Turner finds herself thrown from 1986 back 25 years; I went to high school in the late 80s.) It's really a love story, from start to finish, and I like love stories. And it has good do-wop music.

Other Notes: Turner doesn't quite look like she's in high school (and I suppose she's not trying), but her classmates pull it off. Watch for a young Helen Hunt, a young Jim Carrey, and Lisa Jane Persky who is the lady cop in ``Big Easy.''

How many times I have seen it: x1

Starring: Kathleen Turner, Nicolas Cage, Barry Miller, Catherine Hicks.
Directed by: Francis Coppola
