Wolff rating: NOT BAD

Plot summary: Two people, a cop and a congresswoman, are brought together by the crash of an airplane.

Biased, pithy comments: Pollack has made a moody, introspective piece about two people presented with something outside their daily understanding, outside of the cocoon of the world they've lived in so long. It's hurt their trust, it's hurt their jobs, and it's hurt their sanity. Although well-acted and containing an interesting picture of people grieving, this is an aloof film about stiff, controlled people. Although it is paced pretty well, it ends without much being learned, either by the characters or by the audience. Still, hard to turn away from, if only because of the voyeuristic thrill of watching someone's life be wrecked before your eyes.

Other Notes: Reviews are mixed, and I can see why. It's not great, but I'm not sure it sucks quite as hard as the Gen-X snide press makes it out to be. The characters ring true, but the story isn't all that great.

How many times I have seen it: x1

Starring: Harrison Ford, Kirstin Scott Thomas, Bonnie Hunt.
