Wolff rating: EXCELLENT
Plot summary: Seven lonely men out in the wilderness need wives, and they procede to romance, dance, and steal them from the nearby town.
Biased, pithy comments: The music is pretty darn good in this as music from musicals go, and the choreography balances it well. The plot is sort of off-putting for the Nineties, but if you can handle some blatant 50s sexism, you'll probably do all right. Colors can be garish, but it is worth the watch if you're in the mood for music, dancing and values from another era.
Other Notes: Would have been a much weirder, sexually-driven movie if made recently. John Woo cites this movie as one of his inspirations for his violence-ballets.
How many times I have seen it: x2.5
