Wolff rating: NOT BAD
Plot summary: Former (extremely former---think 1958) Air Force test pilots find themselves in need again in their retirement when a Russian satellite goes haywire.
Biased, pithy comments: What an odd movie. Although I admit I'm not old enough to relate entirely to the characters in the film (my wife complained that the young people in the film were idiots, every one of them), but some of the themes (friendships gone awry over the years, people remembering backstabbing decades old as if it were still fresh) I am, uh, familiar with. Thus, I enjoyed the film, and any movie that has Garner, Eastwood, Jones, and Sutherland all in one place is going to be awash in star power. However, it was a kind of a mess internally. Some of the dialog was just plain clunky (how many times must we hear about Eastwood's failure to be a ``team player''), the plotting Byzantine without making much sense (are their any reprisals here for the villain? What, exactly, did he or she do wrong?), and the pacing sort of uneven (langorous where it could be faster, fast where it could have built tension). So, a mess, but still interesting.
How many times I have seen it: x1
Starring: Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, James Garner, Donald Sutherland
