Wolff Movie Index

Star Trek, Generations(1994)

Wolff rating: GOOD

Plot summary: This big band of shimmering light that makes people happy is tearing across the galaxy, and a mad scientist wants to be there first.

Biased, pithy comments: As a Trekkie, it was both good and bad, and as a sci-fi fan in general, it was both good and bad, but for different reasons. It was a little slow and preachy, but so was STTNG at times, anyhow. Good special effects, but no character development, and someone needs to turn on the lights on the set so we can see people's faces. If you don't know who the Trek characters are, you'll be baffled and bored, but if you do, it's like one long, complex episode where lots of irreversible things happen. If you are a die-hard detailist, you'll get annoyed with the inconsistencies, and if you hate Shatner, you'll hate the last half of this thing.

Other Notes: Best map room scene since ``Raiders''.

How many times I have seen it: x2

Starring: Patrick Stewart, William Shatner, Brent Spiner, the rest of the Next Generation cast holding more minor roles
