Wolff rating: NOT BAD
Plot summary: Sort of an ``Animal House'' goes to the Army---two misfits join the Army for no good reason and then turn it on its side.
Biased, pithy comments: It's really too bad that I'm not a bit younger and more impressionable---this is a movie that demonstrates the early talents of young Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, John Candy, Judge Rheinhold, and even a young Timothy Busfield firing a mortar. The movie is a little stale and totally unbelieveable, even in a nice, friendly way, and the Army tends not to be very Army. The script is segmented into one part that is quite nice---soldiers putting themselves into good use---and another part which should have stayed on the drawing board---attacking the Czech republic with an armored Winnebago. Still, some good dialogue and mindless fun, though it ain't Biloxi Blues by any means.
Other Notes: Did you notice that the Soviets carry Israeli weapons?
