Stuart Saves His Family(1994)

Wolff rating: NOT BAD

Plot summary: Stuart Smalley from SNL loses his cable show and returns home to attend his mother's funeral.

Biased, pithy comments: It is a comedy, but a bleak comedy about the misery and desperation of those who are dependent on therapy. It really wasn't very funny, more sort of grimacingly amusing. The pacing was also very slow, and it wasn't clear who the audience was. Still, for an SNL-based movie, it actually had some real emotional content and a few laughs in Smalley's pathetic way.

Other Notes: ``Is there any way you can get to a pound cake?''

How many times I have seen it: x1

Starring: Al Franken, Laura San Giancomo.
