Terror From the Year 5000(1958)

Wolff rating: NIGHTMARE

Plot summary: Independent scientists are sending messages to the year 5000, and something they don't like comes back (near the end of the movie).

Biased, pithy comments: As with many monster flicks from the 50s, the monster makes few appearances and most of the movie is thick-chested guys with military haircuts wandering around with scantily-clad (for the 50s) women dealing with some uninteresting plot churnings that will lead up to the monster making its bug-eyed appearance. To save you the trouble of sitting through the poorly-lit and worse-edited (and not very well written) film, the ``terror'' is a woman with a slightly misfeatured face due to ``increased radioactivity'' in the air in the year 5000. Yuck. Wooden acting all around (except for Holden, who is wasted and a little old for her part). And remember, ugly people are to be reviled, according to this film.
