Three O'Clock High(1987)

Wolff rating: EXCELLENT

Plot summary: A quiet high-schooler tries to avoid a conflict with a psychopathic bully.

Biased, pithy comments: Great use of cameras and characters to paint both high school and the psychology of the duel in brightly-colored strokes. Each character isn't quite what you expect him or her to be, and you alternately cringe or cheer as authority figures are flattened left and right. It is a severely underrated movie probably because it came out during an era of hundreds of high-school movies like ``Teen Wolf'' and ``Better Off Dead'', but it rises above the pack as an interesting movie artistically yet still fun to watch.

Other Notes: Check out the titles of the books on people's desks.
