Wolff rating: NOT BAD
Plot summary: Grisham's low-grade racial thriller about a black man shooting a pair of white men who raped his daughter.
Biased, pithy comments: This is a star-studded extravaganza filmed really very well, and indeed it has been commercially (and somewhat critically) successful. However, the racial theme seems tired, somehow, though the dialog is much punchier than Grisham's (weak) style. Lavish filming, great work by Bullock, but in the long run actually quite forgettable, especially with the cheesy Hollywood ending. Not a must-see.
