Two If By Sea(1996)

Wolff rating: EVIL

Plot summary: A bunging art thief hides out on a trendy New England island with his girlfriend.

Biased, pithy comments: I suppose this was supposed to be a romantic comedy, with Sandra Bullock trying to repeat her (quite winning) performance in ``While You Were Sleeping.'' Instead, Bullock and Leary's endless arguments were more grating than endearing; I found they mostly reminded me of why I broke up with my last ex. Kotto, who is a fine actor, phoned in his performance, and I actually wanted to physically injure Robson by the end of the film for his jerky performance as ``Beano.'' There were no surprises, and I never ventured a chuckle at the entire proceedings. Don't rent this, even if you're a Bullock fan. Thank goodness I didn't pay to see this.

Other Notes: Also known as ``Stolen Hearts.'' Co-written by Leary, who is normally funnier.

How many times I have seen it: x1

Starring: Denis Leary, Sandra Bullock, Stephen Dillane, Yaphet Kotto, Mike Starr, Jonathan Tucker, and Wayne Robson.
Directed by: Bill Bennett
