Unbreakable(2000)

Wolff rating: GOOD

Plot summary: Security guard is bugged by a man with a bone disease.

Biased, pithy comments: Simply, it's no ``6th Sense'' but it's still a fine movie. Shyamalan has made a movie that can be compared to his previous work (``6th Sense''), in that it has the same silences, colors, alienation, and long focus that has characterized his work so far. It also has Bruce Willis and a Osmet-lookalike and a distant wife. However, this one also has Jackson, who adds dignity to an interesting role. I can't say much more (there are several interesting turns), but it's one of those movies that fits together so perfectly by the time you get to the end that it's a pleasure to feel that rush of understanding. Perhaps a little uneven at times, but it's still worth the ride.

Other Notes: I pegged that as the U.Penn stadium from the first second I saw it, and then snorted---I've nearly gotten beaten up by thuggish frat boys at Penn back when I was a Princeton Band member. I've also been pelted by eggs and trash while standing on that field. Where was Bruce Willis and his security team *then*?

How many times I have seen it: x1

Starring: Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Robin Wright, Spencer Treat Clark.
Directed by: M. Night Shyamalan
