Wolff rating: GOOD
Plot summary: Modern Sherlock Holmes where the eccentric Darryl Zero investigates blackmail.
Biased, pithy comments: The resemblance to Arthur Conan Doyle goes as far as stealing heavily from ``A Scandal in Bohemia,'' but Kasdan takes a good (and frequently funny) look at the psychological implications of being as smart, focused and dedicated as Holmes---Zero is just plain weird. The movie gets off to a great start, but slowly founders on what I felt was a chemistry-free love story rather than examining in detail the relationship between Arlo and Zero (essentially Watson and Holmes). The film pretty much works, and it's clear that there could be more adventures for Zero and Arlo. I hope there are.
Other Notes: Director is son of Lawrence Kasdan, who wrote ``Raiders of the Lost Ark'' and directed ``Silverado.''
