Just making students feel happy and full of knowledge isn't a total measure of INDIE's effectiveness. We would like to see that INDIE allows authors to build applications that have a large amount of content and complexity for the amount of time spent working with it. We can measure this by both comparing INDIE to other tools (which can be found in the next chapter) and, more immediate to the authoring experience, by looking at some of the data from authors as they use INDIE.
